PARENTS WANTED!!!

Eastside Families,
We have some exciting news to share with you regarding our campus community!
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best educational opportunities for all students, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a meeting for Eastside families on Tuesday, April 30th at 6:00PM in the Eastside cafeteria. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss our plans to welcome Douglass Learning Academy (DLA) onto our campus site for the 24-25 school year.
To be clear - DLA students will NOT be sharing any space or have any interaction with Eastside students. They will stay entirely separated during the instructional day in portable classrooms.
DLA is a wonderful program that offers alternative pathways for high school students to obtain their degrees, catering to diverse learning styles and needs. This partnership presents a great opportunity for collaboration and enrichment within our school community.
We understand that you may have questions or concerns about this change, and we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to voice their thoughts. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we work together to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
We have created a Google form for families to submit their questions, which will be answered by Deputy Superintendent, Mr. John Fritts, during the meeting. Please submit your questions here - https://forms.gle/frMPv736vp7KT6jH9
Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 30th, and join us at 6:00PM in the Eastside cafeteria for an informative and engaging discussion. We look forward to sharing more details and hearing from you!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we strive to provide the best educational experience for our students.

CISD Parents - The district is aware of the recent concerning behavior in other Houston-area school districts regarding students ingesting THC-infused gummies. THC is the psychoactive substance found in marijuana.
Substances containing THC - such as CBD gummies, Delta 8, and herbal supplements - may be legally purchased by those 18 years of age and older, however, these substances ARE NOT regulated by the FDA. This means that what is listed on the package is not verified by dose, strength, or additional substances. The concentration and strength of THC in these edible products are very difficult to measure and are often unknown.
Those who have consumed cannabis edibles may:
Act lethargic.
Feel dizzy.
Have trouble walking or sitting up.
Have an accelerated heart rate.
Have trouble breathing.
We would like for everyone to be aware that even “legal” substances can still bring harm. In the cases of student hospitalizations at other districts, it is suspected there were additional substances in these gummies. Fentanyl and other illegal substances have been found in these products. Please talk to your students about the dangers of drugs, edibles, and other assumed “natural” supplements. We want you to know that we will continue with our efforts to ensure every campus is safe for our students.
LEGAL DOES NOT MEAN SAFE!
Happy Counselor's Week to the very best! Thank you for all you do Ms. Gaston and Ms. Chavis! #TheClevelandISDWay
