Come see our GT students shine in their Scientist Living Wax Museum on May 9th!

Our friends over at The City of Cleveland have some great events coming up that we'd like to share!
1.) Clean Up Cleveland: April 27th 9am-12pm
Stancil Expo Center 211 Peach St.
Community Clean Up Event! Create a team or come alone, pick your favorite color shirt or design, and they will supply the rest. It's also a competition to have the most members be present at the event. They will have door prizes, serve lunch, and have a great time!!
Deadline to Register: April 19th. Flyer and form attached.
2.) Summer Youth Sports Camp: June 3rd 9am-4pm
Samuel Wiley Park 1030 Green St.
Pre-registrations are starting to take place now at different locations! This is a great camp, especially if parents are needing activities for their kids to do while they work. They will receive a camp T-shirt, snacks/lunch, and be able to learn skills. Ages 6-14. This is their first year partnering with Overtime Athletics, so they would love for it to be successful so that they can expand into other areas of Cleveland with more coaches and resources for our area. Overtime athletics is affiliated with NFL Flag Sports!
Flyers attached!

It is not just "an eclipse", this will be "THE ECLIPSE" for Texas. Cleveland ISD has decided to close for Monday, April 8th to allow students and staff time to be home with family & friends to experience this once in a lifetime learning opportunity event to make memories, take pictures, make videos together.
The next eclipse is not until 2044 and it will be nowhere near Texas.
Please remember to follow the recommended safety protocols for properly viewing the solar eclipse. We will see all students and staff back on Tuesday, April 9th.

CISD Parents - The district is aware of the recent concerning behavior in other Houston-area school districts regarding students ingesting THC-infused gummies. THC is the psychoactive substance found in marijuana.
Substances containing THC - such as CBD gummies, Delta 8, and herbal supplements - may be legally purchased by those 18 years of age and older, however, these substances ARE NOT regulated by the FDA. This means that what is listed on the package is not verified by dose, strength, or additional substances. The concentration and strength of THC in these edible products are very difficult to measure and are often unknown.
Those who have consumed cannabis edibles may:
Act lethargic.
Feel dizzy.
Have trouble walking or sitting up.
Have an accelerated heart rate.
Have trouble breathing.
We would like for everyone to be aware that even “legal” substances can still bring harm. In the cases of student hospitalizations at other districts, it is suspected there were additional substances in these gummies. Fentanyl and other illegal substances have been found in these products. Please talk to your students about the dangers of drugs, edibles, and other assumed “natural” supplements. We want you to know that we will continue with our efforts to ensure every campus is safe for our students.
LEGAL DOES NOT MEAN SAFE!

Happy Counselor's Week to the very best! Thank you for all you do Ms. Gaston and Ms. Chavis! #TheClevelandISDWay
