Zoning

Rezoning Letter 2024-2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we continue to experience rapid growth within the Cleveland ISD district, we find it necessary to implement changes that will better accommodate and serve our expanding student population.

As you know, our district has seen significant growth over the past few years. This has led to overcrowding at certain schools and underutilization at others. To address these imbalances and ensure that all students continue to have access to quality education and resources, we must adjust our school zoning boundaries for the 2024-2025 school year. This rezoning will affect Cottonwood Elementary and Santa Fe Elementary.

By redistributing the student population through rezoning, we aim to reduce the overcrowding at Cottonwood Elementary and make better use of available space at Santa Fe Elementary. Rezoning will balance class sizes, utilize resources more effectively, and help with transportation and safety.

How are new boundaries determined? New boundaries are determined by looking at current boundaries and determining the smallest area that holds the greatest number of students who can be moved.

How will transportation be affected? Transportation routes and schedules will be adjusted to accommodate this change. It will improve both overcrowding on buses and bus schedules.

Will rezoning impact staffing? Rezoning will have no impact on staff. Cleveland ISD continuously monitors staffing and hires accordingly to provide the best support for our students.

As always, we are committed to providing the best possible educational environment for all of our students. The rezoning of Cottonwood Elementary and Santa Fe Elementary is a step towards achieving that goal.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
